Support Resources for Queer Youth, Allies, and Loved Ones

Kincardine Pride is committed to creating a community where all queer and gender-diverse youth can feel safe, loved, and celebrated. If you or someone you know is navigating similar challenges, the following resources offer valuable support, guidance, and tools for queer youth and their allies. We encourage everyone, especially families and friends, to explore these resources and to reach out whenever needed.


For Queer Youth

  • Kids Help Phone
    Available 24/7 across Canada, Kids Help Phone offers free, confidential support by phone, text, or online chat. They provide resources specifically for LGBTQ+ youth, including coping strategies and connections to local supports.

  • Trans Lifeline
    A peer support and crisis hotline run by and for the trans community. Trans Lifeline provides compassionate support without the risk of non-consensual active rescue.

  • The Trevor Project
    The Trevor Project offers crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ+ youth. Their resources include a 24/7 hotline, chat, and text services, plus numerous mental health resources tailored to queer and trans youth.

  • LGBT Youthline
    LGBT Youthline offers confidential and non-judgmental peer support for LGBTQ+ youth aged 29 and under in Ontario. They provide support through text, chat, and email, creating a safe space for queer youth to connect with trained peers who understand.

For Families, Allies, and Community Members

  • PFLAG Canada
    PFLAG supports families, allies, and LGBTQ+ people through peer-to-peer connections and resources aimed at fostering understanding and acceptance. Many communities, including smaller towns, have local PFLAG chapters that offer in-person meetings and support.
